Final Project Proposal

The inital idea is to invent a program that recognizes facial features and converts the brush tool in Adobe Photoshop to different colors. This allows an artist to create an abstract portrait of their feelings in the actions they take, such as watching a movie or playing video games, or even just chatting with one of their friends in an improvised theater skit. As for the facial recognition software it will require further digging to find a suitable program. The rest of the checklist is as follows:

  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • Premier
  • AfterEffects
Any and all patience is very appreciated! This project could take art to a whole new level of creativity.

Signing off,

- Ike

Update as of Week 6

Project 1 is about to get off the ground here. With Colin's help we've acquired an old Nintendo NES to really get a feel for the "Home Without a Home" project (A link to the project blog can be found below, along with a picture of our NES.

Essentially the project aims to create a virtual experience of another's life with old toys and a short series of individual videos. The videos and toys will be linked with interactive tools to create a sort of kinesthetic feeling all around, letting the viewers basically be what keeps the video going.

An idea Colin and I worked on for a potential final project would be to have people play old NES games and record their facial expressions. These expressions would then be linked interactively to Photoshop, Illustrator or another drawing program on a computer and could be used to create an abstract portrait.

Raw feelings could be illustrated in greater detail than ever before.
